Stuff I say...

I don't run after people... It ruins my pretty shoes... How can we expect anything to change, when our actions remain the same? Creator of trouble... Bye, bye kitty... Mondays always need an extra shot of espresso... I don't follow my destiny, I make my destiny... Crazy/Beautiful...
I fell in love with the stars, the beauty of the night....

Some days I just don't know...

What is beauty?  I would like to say beauty is unique. Then I watch a stupid reality TV program and everyone wants to have the same perfect body and no flaws and... They all look like barbies cast from the same mold in the end.

Other days I think that beauty is not even an external feature, but something more deep and lasting ( except those silicone implants, those things can even survive cremation, just so by the way) Any pretty girl with a horrid attitude will prove my point.

Why am I even wondering what beauty is? Well the thing is, I don't always know. I don't know how I can determine what beauty is, when there are so many different perceptions.

I've seen so many women/girls, who are torn apart due to their physique.
Skinny girls are making their voices heard,by speaking up when someone says mean things about them, things they should not even have to tolerate.  (see my post making my skinny voice heard)  Actually the point that I'm trying to make is that people try to justify what pretty is NOT and they point fingers at individuals who don't deserve it.
Now I would like to know: Does it make you feel pretty and beautiful when you point out someone's flaws and that which makes them so hideous? I don't understand the mean girls lifestyle. It doesn't make anyone happy.

What about being happy? Isn't that part of being beautiful? Audrey Hepburn said that happy girls are the prettiest. Maybe the appeal lies within the happiness? (or rather being a well balanced individual, since no one wants to be with someone...who isn't)

And when balance is mentioned, apparently beauty is all about balance and proportions.
a balance between psychological factors and physical attractiveness, body proportions and the regularity of features. This is a mouthful, in other words, be nice, well groomed and live a healthy lifestyle.

I'm guessing that beauty is all about balance, but for me (excluding industry influences) beauty lies within the so called flaws and imperfections that make us who we are.

I welcome my self back to my blog...and here's to 2012.

Sounds like bad stage directions, but there it is... I'm back...

My holiday in SA was awesome and now it's time to hit the books, the runways and studios to earn my keep...

New York decided to not welcome me back in the friendliest manner, the weather is miserable (or it could just be that I've set the SA standard and I'm now hoping that every day is a sunny one)

So the weather didn't give me a warm welcome, but the year is still young (and not the last one I hope)

Here's to a fabulous 2012!

Making my skinny voice heard...

I've been reading quite a few comments about skinny girls...
JK Rowling implied that we're stupid and those who have curves would say that we're not feminine..

A statement such as " Only dogs go for bones, real men like curves" actually does little to my ego and self image...
Really, it annoys me, but it does not make me feel like less of a woman...
Actually it makes me happy to know that the guys who like curves don't like me... They might like curves ONLY and not the rest of you, like your personality...
To be honest, some dogs even make better companions than a superficial partner, my spaniel loves me for who I am and accepts me, bony butt and all...
Can you with your pretty curves say that about the guys who 'appreciate' you so much?

Also, we are not dumb! I am not an idiot, just because I am skinny...  If you think that we lack intelligence, my goodness, where have you been? My weight does not determine my intelligence, but what I read, who I talk to and what I take from that, does play a role.

I do not starve, just because I'm skinny doesn't mean I'm hungry all the time...
I don't live to eat, I eat when I'm hungry and I eat just what I want. So excuse my bony butt for being able to eat junk food, candy and what ever else I feel like eating.

So, just to let you know, I am NOT jealous of your curves, nor do I want them...
If you're happy, then all is well, but don't break me and every other skinny girl down just because we're 'lacking in intelligence and femininity'... We might actually just surprise you and accept you for who you are, curves and all...

My second last weekend in Hong Kong...

I am out of here in three weeks!
Yes, I cannot seem to count according to the title, yes it's still correct.

Next weekend I will be going to Manila to do a fashion show for the Red Cross fundraiser...
The typhoons have once again left so many without homes that some action has been taken to raise funds to help those in need...

I'm so excited that the countdown will probably start including hours and minutes, since I am in desperate need of some real sunshine and a good night's sleep. My body seems to be taking the countdown very seriously and I am slowly but surely swapping my days and nights... The first step to suffering from insomnia... Sigh, just three more weeks of suffering with the sleeping problems...

I don't think that I have ever been this excited to write exams...

I say hey, what's going on?

I have less than six weeks to go before I get to go home! I'm so excited!
I've also noticed a trend, when I'm in Hong Kong, I neglect my blog...
The city is way too distracting, I think...

So if you're wondering what I've been up to... Here is a quick update.
I did presentations for Chanel, D&G and a show for YSL and I've been going to castings...

I've gotten blisters the size of 10c coins on my heels from shoes and I've once again ruined my head phones. No matter the price, they always end up breaking so I'm considering going el-cheepo, since I replace the expensive ones just as often.
I'm still looking for the bugs that stole my shoes and I've rediscovered my sweet tooth.

I've witnessed the mid-autumn festival, gone to Macau for the day by ferry, which made me once again realize that the ferries are not my favourite mode of transport, since I still go green... I've watched movies and I've been reading a book a day and I've gone through my summaries for my exams which is about 7 weeks away.

I fell in love with Lomography and will be purchasing cameras and film before I leave, since the old school is fashionable.

I've been singing along to David Bowie, and I've gotten the sales ladies in the clothing stores to unpack their stock on Thursday night, because that's how you do shopping around here.

I've also had my 'experiment' where I keep on posting a photo or image instead of just a normal status on FB. It ended up being one big wall of motivation... Now, that might seem kinda cheesy, (Wait it IS cheesy) but it works, I'm happier and well, no one likes someone who constantly sulks.

I haven't taken as much photos as what I would like to, not that I'm any good, but practice does help to develop some skills, so as soon as I get more time, I will give myself a theme for the week and just keep on taking photos. Hopefully I can then get rid of my pent up artistic frustration and get some what pretty photos.

10 years surely does go by quickly...

Today is the 10th anniversary of the horrors of 9/11.

I still remember watching it on the news and I don't think that I really had any idea of what a big impact it had on people's lives, since I was safe and happy on another continent.

When I had the chance to visit ground zero and look at the memorials for the heroes, it became reality. So many people have lost loved ones and so many others sacrificed their lives to save someone else.

There was one hero in particular that touched my heart.
Daisy, a golden retriever, saved her blind owner, his boss and 965 other lives.
She guided people out of the building, until she got injured. Daisy suffered from severe burns on her paws, smoke inhalation and a broken leg. She did survive and was carried out by a firefighter.
She was also given the Medal of Honor of New York City.

Let's remember those who have been affected by the tragedy, those who made big sacrifices for the safety of others and the ones who lost their lives on this day.

Tragedy strikes...

It's a tragic day...
I have somehow lost a pair of shoes...

I cannot figure out how one can misplace a pair of shoes?
I think it was revenge of the super bugs... They stole my shoes...

So I had to replace them... Obviously...
